Conflict is a common feature of human interaction which has arisen since the dawn of time, whether coming from a place of different viewpoints, goals or values, and whether in the context of romantic relationships, friendships or family issues or even the workplace. Whilst conflict is often viewed as ‘destructive’ and indeed it can be, it can also be a catalyst for real growth, leading to the development of stronger, more robust relationships.
Learning how to more effectively resolve conflict starts with understanding the root cause of that conflict, developing better communication skills such as ‘active listening,’ practising empathy and taking personal accountability. All of these skills can be taught and honed within the safe environment of the therapy space.
