Divorce and separation are both emotionally challenging life events that can take the individual on a rollercoaster of emotions from grief and loss, shock and disorientation, sadness, anger, confusion, anxiety, even perhaps relief, to finding oneself again and/or establishing a new identity.
All of this can take some time to navigate and it can be difficult to know how and where to start. This is where counselling can really help. By sitting alongside you whilst you find your way in this new way of being, the counsellor can act as a guide and sounding board, helping you to grieve your old life and what you have lost (your relationship, your dreams, your expectations), to manage various practicalities and also to help you transition into the ‘new you.’
