Emma Cotton Affordable Counsellor

Emma Cotton

About:

I am a compassionate, genuine, and approachable counsellor who believes that everyone deserves to be heard without judgement. I strive to create a warm, safe, and confidential space where you can feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.

I work from a pluralistic approach, recognising that every individual is unique and that there is no single approach that suits everyone. Together, we will explore what feels most helpful for you, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs, goals, and personal growth. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you, supporting and empowering you to make your own decisions while helping you discover your own truth.

For over 25 years, I have worked within the social care sector, supporting children, young people, and adults through a wide range of life experiences and challenges. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals experiencing issues relating to identity, exploitation, abuse, trauma, and mental health. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of the importance of empathy, trust, and building meaningful therapeutic relationships.

I have completed the Level 4 Diploma in Psychotherapy and Therapeutic Counselling and am currently completing the Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapy and Therapeutic Counselling, which I am due to finish in December 2026. I am also a qualified Hypnotherapist and a registered member of both the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and the National Hypnotherapy Society.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, challenges around identity, the impact of past experiences, or simply need someone to listen, I am here to support you in a way that feels right for you.
